Matroyshka means 'little matron' in Russian. Matroyshka dolls are often referred to as Russian nesting dolls. Although these dolls do not nest, they are knit in different sizes but similar shapes to appear as if they could. Have fun creating a collection of dolls in coordinating colors with whimsical detail!
This pattern gives instructions for three doll sizes: mother, teen and child. The felted mother measures, after being stuffed with fiberfill, about 7-inches from the top of its head to its base. The teen measures about 5-1/2 inches tall and the child, about 4-1/2 inches.
